hospital

Well I took John to Group Health's Urgent Care clinic because he was having really bad back spasms this afternoon.  The nurse took his blood pressure twice and immediately we were taken back because it was something like 84/37.  definately not good.  he also had been light headed (feeling like he was about to pass out but of course he didn't tell me) for the past three days.  some labs were done, ekg was done.   ekg and cardiac labs were fine.  his kidney function had dropped considerably.  when that happens the medication you take isn't filtered out of your body and gets built up in your system causing kidney damage.  so after being on IV's for 2 hours and his blood pressure not going up by very much he was admitted to the hospital.  He's going to be here for a few days, getting IVs, being taking off some medications, and having the dosages lowered on other medications.  Our Home Teacher should be here in a few minutes to give him a blessing.
More later.

  1. I'm glad the ekg and cardiac labs are fine. Hopefully the blood pressure will work it's way up, and the kidneys will take care of themselves with the IV fluid.

What a lot of stress! Hopefully it will be over soon, with you feeling like it's all manageable. Prayers and long distance hugs!

  2. Thanks for the prayers and long distance hugs. also for being my first follower on my blog! His blood pressure this morning is 132/68. we're still waiting for the Dr to come in and talk to us and let us know what the results of his kidney function test are. I never knew how having a loved one in the hospital can make the spouse so tired. My youngest daughter was all worried that he was going to die, her Great grandmother and her Uncle both died on Easter. I think that I'm going to have to be in charge of his medications now. I'm definately going to have to get all ibuprofen type medications out of the house as he can't take them now. Hopefully my boss will understand that I will need to go to the next few Dr appointments with him. The hospital he is in is GREAT, I'd recommend it to anyone.
